Story
Bullet Raja (Ravi Teja) along with Kaja (Vennela Kishore) does small robberies for the sake of money. Bullet Raja falls in love with Shwetha (Tapsee) after seeing her at a function and makes her fall in love with the help of Vidya Balan, a dance master (Brahmanandam). Meanwhile, Harbour Babu (Sushant Singh) a powerful local goon and Shwetha’s Brother-in-law who was already engaged to the lady against her wish, kills Bullet Raja. At Yamalokam, Bullet Raja gets to know that with the mistake done by Chitragupta (M.S.Narayana) his life unfairly ended and so he gets into fight with Yamadharma Raja (Prabhu). Yama decides to send back him to earth to another body who looks exactly like Bullet Raja. How does the story turn with Bullet Raja getting back his life forms the crux.
Performances
Ravi Teja entertains in the two distinct roles as Bullet Raja and as a home minister Ravindra and his energy levels are amazing. He is at his ease in expressions and his scenes with Brahmanandam once again entertain to the core.
Tapsee is quite glamorous and ravishing in the film, especially in the songs however, she did not have an ample scope for performance. Her character isn’t neatly etched.
Brahmanandam is hilarious as dance master Vidya Blalan, Sushanth Singh in the negative role delivers mediocre performance while Jayasudha is impressive. Prabhu, Vennela Kishore, Raghu Babu are good, Shayaji Shinde, Srinivasa Reddy and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam are brief.
Technical Analysis
Vetri’s cinematography is decent, Vijay Anthony’s music and background score is not up to the mark. Dialogues are regular, direction is mediocre. Screenplay is highly predictable and lacks freshness. Production Values are just average.
Analysis
Director Siva has come with a very routine story and highly predictable screenplay with regular dialogues. The narration is bad and the graphics are not up to the mark for the so-called socio-fantasy film. Daruvu reminds us of many other films for instances Yamagola, Yama Donga, Yamudiki Mogudu, et al and makes it unexciting outing. Ravi Teja carries of the film with his incredible energy and talent but sadly, the director could not give unique scenes by mixing up a bunch of movies. However, Daruvu is far better than Ravi Teja’s last two outings Veera and Nippu. Despite not unique scenes, Ravi Teja has done the two characters in his own style which is notable. First half of the film had no content but is packed with comic scenes and songs while the second half is predictable but better than the first hour and the climax is good.
Final verdict
Daruvu - A routine & highly predictable mass entertainer but Ravi Teja carries off the role in his style.
